I Feel Like the Only Person Who

does not own an iPod. Do you realize that they have been around since 2001?

has never downloaded music. Napster didn’t become big until after I graduated from college so I missed out on all of this. Plus, see the item directly above. Oh, I’ve never downloaded a podcast either.

has not seen The Dark Knight. Yes, I’ve heard that Heath Ledger is great.

does not have Tivo or a DVR. I’ve only written about this now for two years!

does not have a Blackberry or Bluetooth. I’m sure there’s some other product with a color in its title that I don’t have either.

plays Xbox. Everyone now has Xbox 360, Wii or Playstation 3. I don’t even think they make new games for Xbox anymore.

does not own any type of Global Positioning System. If I don’t know where I’m going, I type in the address on Google maps or call for directions.

Finally, while I know I’m not the only person who doesn’t have a Blu-ray, this is a preemptive strike for when I make a new list in 2010 or 2011. I was late to the DVD game and still have some VHS tapes around. I’m not ready to make the switch away from DVDs.

Your turn to share/confess.

I feel like the only person who does not have...

kids - everyone around me does, and are surprised that we don't...just hasn't happened!

And Sean, we don't have a GPS, DVR, crackberry, or blueray, either. We don't have ANY gaming sytem - although I wouldn't mind a Wii for Christmas! : )

my ipod is critial to my job... otherwise all this data entry would go *reeeeeeeeally* slowly... besides, I'm a music geek... so I've downloaded music too (but I still prefer buying CDs)...

otherwise, I can confirm that you're not the only person in any of those other categories... of course, I may also be the only person who doesn't own a television... and the only person who believes that the presidential election isn't a choice between our savior and the antichrist...

oh, and I'm also the only person who doesn't really much care about football...

Hey- Don't feel bad, we still watch VHS tapes, I have no tivo...and don't even know what The Dark Knight is! I haven't had a video game system since Atari!

I don't have a facebook account. I'm like a caveperson.

I have most of those gadgety things. But I have really crappy furniture, ancient carpet, and nothing in my apartment matches. ;)

And Easy: I actually have yet to meet a single person who thinks that way about the campaign. Few Democrats intensely dislike McCain. Despite the lack of excitement about Kerry, the "antichrist" analogy was far more apt in 2004.

What the election is, simply, is an outside chance to see serious systemic change, vs. no chance. And for the record, I characterized the primary choice between Obama and Clinton the exact same way.

I was away from a computer the past few days, so I haven't been able to reply until now.

Captain - How do you not have a TV? I can understand if you don't have cable but no TV at all. And you don't like football? How can you call yourself an American?

Christine - Yeah, that kid thing for people our age seems to be going around. I agree with you 100%.

Brooke - The Dark Knight is the new Batman movie. Hooray for someone else who likes VHS tapes!

Carrie - Even I have a Facebook account! :)

Dan - Matching furniture is overrated.

Oh, and for the record Sean -- the DVR is head and shoulders above the rest of the items, if I were to rank them. Just DO it! I think the boxes themselves are basically free now, aside from a monthly fee.

I agree, the DVR is a game-changer. You can even instantly rewind to watch the line play during football games. And as far as the kid thing goes, I'm the only one at trivia with any. You're among your own kind there.

Don't have an iPod, don't want an iPod. Give me decent speakers or at least a decent set of headphones. I understand that one doesn't need much tonal richness to listen to Jennifer Lopez, and I imagine that's why they're so popular, but I tend to listen to real music with real bandwidth/equalizing capabilities and couldn't stand it through tinny little earplugs.

No Tivo/DVR, either.

Haven't seen Dark Knight.

Don't have/don't want a Blackberry.

Don't have a GPS, but I do think I'd like to have one someday.

I have lots of VHS tapes. Lots. Got some DVDs, too, but lots and lots of VHS.

You are not alone.
