Ed Sheeran Meets Cameron Heyward

In the long and storied history of Sean's Ramblings, I've had a series about celebrities in Pittsburgh gear and Pittsburgh athletes with world-renowned athletes (or PAWRA). I write this because this particular blog post doesn't quite fit either category. On Saturday, Ed Sheeran performed at Acrisure Stadium. Based on Sheeran's love of Heinz ketchup, they really should have used the stadium's previous name of Heinz Field just for one night.

Anyway, at some point on Saturday, Steelers' Cameron Heyward and his wife Allie met Sheeran. The Heywards presented Sheeran with a special Steelers helmet featuring a Sheeran concert picture on one side. It's pretty cool.

A little disappointing there's no picture of ketchup on the helmet though.

Ed Sheeran: Pittsburgher

You may have heard about the Irish ice cream shop, Gelati Enniscrone & Ballina, that created a Heinz ketchup-flavored gelato. This flavor is a tribute to singer Ed Sheeran and his upcoming Irish tour. Apparently, Sheeran is a huge fan of Heinz ketchup and even has a tattoo of the ketchup on his upper left arm.

Let's go on a tangent here. I've attended many weddings in which the bride and groom (or their families) create welcome bags for guests coming from out of town and staying at a hotel. In one such wedding,* the bag included your typical snacks and drinks as well as Heinz pickle pins. Who would have Heinz pickle pins other than a Pittsburgher? Getting back to Sheeran, it certainly seems like only someone from Western Pennsylvania with devotion to a Pittsburgh delicacy (maybe not the best term) would get a tattoo to honor such a product. Therefore, even though Sheeran is from the UK, he certainly seems like an honorary Pittsburgher. Now, Visit Pittsburgh should reach out to Sheeran to have him visit the Heinz headquarters.

Pizza Bagels

We interrupt your Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend for a very important blog post.



Pizza bagels are delicious. When I was at camp, this was always our favorite meal. While I usually ate pizza bagels traditionally with the bagel, tomato sauce and melted cheese on top, as a kid, there were times when we used ketchup in place of tomato sauce. The result was still a delicious meal. Recently, I made myself a pizza bagel with ketchup and found that at least one person was shocked and a little disgusted by this creation. Therefore, I'm sharing this with the entire world today.

Have you ever used ketchup in place of tomato sauce on a pizza bagel? If so, do you agree that they are tasty? If not, would you consider trying it or are you adamantly against this?

Ketchup Slide

Continuing with a food theme today, the video below is from the ketchup slide competition at the 20th Annual Hamburger Festival in Seymour, Wisconsin. This is a great use for Hunt’s ketchup, a significantly inferior ketchup as compared to Heinz.
