The Friends of the National Zoo here in Washington, DC is holding a contest where you can vote for the name of the newly-born male panda. The choices are:
· Hua Sheng (hwah SHUNG), which means "China Washington" and "magnificent."
· Sheng Hua (SHUNG hwah), which means "Washington China" and "magnificent."
· Tai Shan (tie SHON), which means "peaceful mountain."
· Long Shan (lohng SHON), which means "dragon mountain."
· Qiang Qiang (chee-ONG chee-ONG), which means "strong, powerful."
I really don't want to get into the pros and cons of these names (like why would you name a panda, dragon mountain? A panda is a panda, not a dragon, and there are no mountains in DC) but I have my own suggestions to be considered:
· Hines
· Pittsnogle
· Roethlisberger
· Kimo von Oelhoffen
· Fred the Panda
