The video below is the song Second Chance by a new band (at least to me) Shinedown. The chorus features the lead singer screaming/singing "Tell my mother, tell my father, I've done the best I can." Maybe you have heard the song, and maybe you haven't. I'm sure that someone else probably made this observation already, but even though the lead singer looks like a hardcore rocker dressed in black leather, he sounds like Elton John. Listen to the part when he sings "I just saw Haley's Comet." Is there a chance Elton John has a son or the band is singing a new Elton John song but doing the Milli Vanilli thing? I can't get past this.
That is all. Thank you; come again!
Wow. That's downright eerie.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's not just me!
ReplyDelete"Sorry, we are unable to offer this video to users in your region." You mean outer space? I'm in Aus for petes sake! I hate this whole "Region" BS, we all live on the same bloody planet and the internet is a flow through tech where all the worlds cultures and countries are combined as one. So why can't I view this Shine Down video? Wake up to the future (actually it's here and now)and remove these stupid region restrictions.
ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteI found your page by Google-searching "Shinedown"+"Elton John" to see if anyone else has had the same thought about this as me! I always thought this from the first time I heard the song! :P
I thought the exact same thing also!!! I'm glad it's not just me....
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Elton John first time I heard it, thought "Wow he's broken into modern rock".
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard the song featuring him on Apocalyptica's new album, I thought it was Elton John. I guess it's not about the timbre only, but also in the dynamics of his singing
ReplyDeleteYou are so absolutely right I know I'm late to the game of Shinedown LOL but about three months ago I started listening to him and I absolutely love them and I definitely as soon as I started hearing his voice especially the lines and the song you were speaking of he sounds absolutely identical to Elton John. It's hard for me to believe that Elton John himself has not come out and said something about it
ReplyDeleteI also think he sounds like Elton John on parts of the song 45
ReplyDeleteAs well as the entirety of "I'll Follow You", not just lyrical style and vocal impressions, but musically too. Hard to believe the music was written by one band member 3 yrs before the lyrics came to be, and then by a different band member than the lyrics. I had wondered myself if it hadnt originated somewhere in EJ's unpublished works. As a fan of Elton's works, the similarities are pleasantly uncanny.
