I love asking random questions on my blog. Today’s question: where should I go on vacation? We were planning on taking a trip to Vegas in mid-October, but unfortunately, the price for flights is more than we’re willing to spend. Therefore, we’re looking for an alternative where we can drive to our destination. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to go for a long weekend? Early ideas include Asheville, North Carolina, Charlottesville, Virginia and the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Please leave any ideas or suggestions in the comments.
Update: For our vacation, we have selected......Asheville, North Carolina! Since we've never been there, does anyone have any suggestions on what someone would do in Asheville?
Thank you!
Rachel Rubenstein (now Kerchner) & I once went on vacation to Cleveland. We were going to go to Iceland, but that didn't work out, so we chose the next best thing. Between the two, I would go to Iceland.
ReplyDeleteThere is always, beautiful Rochester, NY and the Fingerlakes wine region!
ReplyDeleteThere is always beautiful Edinboro!
ReplyDeleteMelissa - Thanks for your comment. I would love to go to Iceland sometime. For this trip though, we're looking for somewhere we can drive.
ReplyDeletePaul & Daisy - I do like Rochester and Edinboro. Those could be stops on our next trip!
Asheville sounds kinda funny if you say it with a Sean Connery accent.
ReplyDeleteAsheville - the zoo, the Biltmore estate, there are also some vineyards in the vicinity.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely check out the Biltmore Estate - there is a winery on the grounds and a pretty good restaurant, as well as the house, gardens, stables, etc. Wear walking shoes!!
ReplyDeleteThere are also some great museums and native american attractions in the area. I believe there is also a ghost tour and/or a ghost town nearby.
And its the headquarter city of my music fraternity - SAI - you could stop by and have Ruth play the piano for you! : )
The town of Asheville is very earthycrunchy in a good way. Definitely worth a walk through. And there's great hiking and gorgeous views with all the mountains. Biltmore is definitely worth a visit if you like huge, fancy mansions, formal gardens, and excellent wine! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteah, you should have gone to the eastern shore! great beaches that are uncrowded this time of year. then again, we stayed at an awesome lakefront home in north carolina once. it was probably even better than going to the beach.
