Trivia Monday: Literature Edition

While I'd much rather have trivia on Tuesday, this is a strange week with Christmas and people off work and schools closed. As a result, you get trivia on Monday. If you prefer to have your trivia on Tuesday, simply come back tomorrow. Enjoy!

Your challenge is to answer the questions below about these classic novels.

1. A Tale of Two Cities: What are the two cities?

2. The Scarlet Letter:* What does the letter stand for?

3. The Lord of the Flies: What is the Lord of the Flies?

4. The Lord of the Rings: Who is the Lord of the Rings?

5. Slaughterhouse-Five: In what city is Slaughterhouse five?

6. Moby Dick: What kind of whale is Moby Dick?

7. Harry Potter: Who is the prisoner of Azkaban?

8. Crime and Punishment: What was the crime?

9. It: What is "It"?**

10. Catcher in the Rye: What does Holden Caulfield imagine himself catching?

As always, please leave your answers in the comments section below and do not use the internet for assistance. Good luck!

This quiz is courtesy of the fine folks at District Trivia.

* I can't see this title without thinking of one the greatest names in fantasy baseball history. Yes, only 10-15 people will get this & only 2-3 may actually read this post.

Allright, at one point or another I've read almost all of these books. And I'm embarrassed that I don't know a couple.

1. Paris and London
2. Adulterer
3. I think its the devil. But I don't remember. I should ask Chuck, bet he would know.
4. Sauron
5. Dresden
6. I never actually thought about it. They were hunting right whales. But I think Moby Dick was something else. Sperm whale? An albino Blue whale?
7. Harry's godfather. Gary Oldman.
8. Yeah, I have no idea on this one. Although to be fair this is the one I'm pretty sure I never read.
9. The clown? Tim Curry.
10. Easily one of my favorite books, and I cannot believe that I have no idea what this is a reference to.

1. Tirana & Zagreb, obviously
2. Albanian. Because their flag is red, so a red A on someone's shirt meant they were a citizen of Albania, probably from Tirana.
3. Piggy's glasses, which were purchased from a Lenscrafters in Albania. His parents saved 40%!
4. Jim Belushi
5. Elbasan, a wonderful Albanian city which not only boasts a wonderful pig slaughtering market, but also a vibrant night life!
6. balenë (that is the Albanian word for whale in case you were wondering)
7. Jim Belushi, once he becomes the Lord of the Rings, he has to battle Harry Potter, who clearly defeats him and sends him to Azkaban, which is a small village in Albania, and is only three kilometers from where Jim's great-great grandparents lived! They raised goats.
8. Jaywalking. It is considered a capital crime in Albania.
9. "It" is the current fashion trend in Albania. A wonderful blend between modern and couture.
10. Chainsaws. The national past-time of Albania is chainsaw juggling, which Holden wanted to do at an early age because his neighbor was an old Albanian magic juggler, he could juggle 16 chainsaws at once!

Christian - You are correct on 1,2, 4, 5, 9 & 7 (sort of). You also send out funny holiday cards.

Josh - You are so close on all of these, but Alex Trebek won't accept these answers.

Fine. I suppose I will answer the ones Christian missed...

3. The severed pig's head.
6. An albino sperm whale
8. Pennywise, although I am not sure what you are looking for. Pennywise comes in many forms throughout the book, most notably a dancing clown. But if you read the Dark Tower, Pennywise is sort of like Dandelo...I guess you could say they are both monsters from the Todash.
10. Holden catches children.
